Virginia (Ginger) Van Vynckt is a longtime editor, writer, publisher, and web developer. She has written about a variety of topics, ranging from travel to gardening, but her longtime specialty is food and nutrition. She was a food and nutrition reporter for the Chicago Sun-Times for eight years, and is the author or co-author of seven food-related books, including All-American Waves of Grain, The Great Big Cookie Book, the Dictionary of Healthful Food Terms, and Wok Every Day.
She is also the webmaster of MakeGreatCookies.com, a collection of nearly 200 original recipes for cookies and bars, and lens master of The Baking Sheet on Squidoo. She also runs a couple of gardening blogs, including GardenArtandGifts.com, because gardening is a good way to work off some of the calories from all those baked goods.
She likes to cook and especially bake, and thinks chocolate deserves its own food group.
